The beginning of something new

Resolutions or I'd rather say list of things that will be my focus on 2014 -I'm not finding any solutions but rather just searching for my happiness, are:

  •  saving for a specific destination rather than dreaming for an RTW trip which is a bit impossible for me at the moment. I have chosen a certain country that I really really really desperately wanted to go and I will focus to prepare my trip to go there (note: alone). This doesn't mean I'm throwing away the dream, but it's more about trying to make it real in a small measurable portion and I know in my heart it will take me further.
  • say NO when I want to say NO. This one is not going to be easy for me. I really need to turn away from the guilty feeling of making other people unhappy
  • spend more time blogging! I really need this one. Rather than being a sad sack that cries about the unfairness of this world, I wanted to learn how to write things that interest me the most. I always love to travel because I like to see how people live their life's, so I wanted to captured that and share the passion with everyone else.
  • learn and learn and learn so much more in taking better photograph. Travel, photo, and coffee are three of the world's pleasure!
  • more doodle-ing. I always make pictures in my mind that I would like to make it into doodles but often it's just gone away. So now I carry a little green doodle book so I can captured moments worth doodling hahaha...
That's all I always think of. Will do better this year!
Hope you have a very fun-tastic year ahead :)

Inked

Finally!!! Number one on my 30 Before 30 list, getting a tattoo is DONE!
Something I wanted from a long time ago. I remembered, since I was about 14 I wanted to have a tattoo. I always like to make those temporary ones. This time, it is real and permanent. The letter "L" is inked!

Being inked

The tattoo artist

My process of getting a tattoo was not an easy one. I was introduced to the tattoo artist by my co-worker. His name is Andre. The tattoo artist wanted me to have a clean and healthy tattoo, and I surely agreed with that. So he asked me to do some blood test (which were more expensive than the tattoo itself!). Because it was my first tattoo (not my last, hopefully...), I did all the blood test he recommended. A HIV-test was needed. It took 3 days for the result. It was negative, well, it was supposed to be because the fact that my life was far from crazy things (before 2011) and I even considered boring hahaha... I had the tattoo at my house! Yes, the tattoo artist was so kind he would likely go to our house with his lots and lots of equipment. It took 15 minutes to prepare and only about 10 minutes to make my letter "L" tattoo. And yes it hurt, it's a tattoo after all, but it's so bearable! So here I'm, inked with the letter "L". I love it so much!

I had a dream

After a hard two months of struggling in moving, disaster, home renovation, and adapting to my new life, I finally got a break. Last night, I finally can do things I missed, making my nailart, watching too much National Geography and TLC, browsing Pinterest, and those kinda stuff hahaha... Well, I guess, I'm starting to get back in track, or may I say, getting to roll in the new track.

Well, what happened is that this morning I had a very wonderful dream that I really wish I hadn't got a cough and woke up. I dreamed I was attending a family affair in India (INDIA!!!). I don't know how that happen! But I was so trilled. And when I arrived there, like everyone was so busy doing their own things, and well, like the actually family gatherings, I always was not fit-in anywhere, so while they were busy, I had time for myself to go out for a walk. So, there I was, in India (I always wanted to go there!), having a lot of time for my own, IT WAS AWESOME! Then the next great thing happen, as I was walking down the street feeling happy and all that, I notice that a lot of people dances a long the street. I thought it was fun! Then I took a road without thinking too much like I usually do, and it was heading to a white temple. There was a group of Indian soldiers riding big fancy horses with much decoration on it. As I was walking, I also got in the way of one of the soldier. I'm glad he wasn't angry at me. Behind the soldiers, I saw a lady with a lama (weird, right?) and she said that it was a dancing lama. If I wanted to, I could dance with the lama. Of course I accepted the lady's offer! So she handed me the rope, and she said that the lama will started to synchronize with me first, so we can dance  in the same rhythm. So there I was, holding the lama's rope then I woke up!!!!! UUUUGH! I really hated to have to wake up. The dream felt so really and I was so happy, something I hadn't felt for a long time :( Well, I hoped it will be a real thing and soon hahaha...

I just wanna share this picture I got from Pinterest, I guess it's because the impression this beautiful lama's eyes that made my had that strange dream.

Am I killing my dream?

Things has happened to me during this few weeks (or months?)... What I discovered is that I'm starting to kill my dreams whether I knew it or not. I kinda notice it today when a good friend of mine, ask me a simple question, "when will my next travel trip be?" and I answered with so much excuses when actually I don't have any trip ahead :'( I don't know what had happened with my head, but I know it is not a good thing. I tried to seek Paulo Coelho's 1 min reading about this:

The first symptom of the process of our killing our dreams is the lack of time. The busiest people I have known in my life always have time enough to do everything. Those who do nothing are always tired and pay no attention to the little amount of work they are required to do. They complain constantly that the day is too short. The truth is, they are afraid to fight the Good Fight.

The second symptom
of the death of our dreams lies in our certainties. Because we don’t want to see life as a grand adventure, we begin to think of ourselves as wise and fair and correct in asking so little of life. We look beyond the walls of our day-to-day existence, and we hear the sound of lances breaking, we smell the dust and the sweat, and we see the great defeats and the fire in the eyes of the warriors. But we never see the delight, the immense delight in the hearts of those who are engaged in the battle. For them, neither victory nor defeat is important; what’s important is only that they are fighting the Good Fight.
And, finally, the third symptom of the passing of our dreams is peace. Life becomes a Sunday afternoon; we ask for nothing grand, and we cease to demand anything more than we are willing to give. In that state, we think of ourselves as being mature; we put aside the fantasies of our youth, and we seek personal and professional achievement. We are surprised when people our age say that they still want this or that out of life. But really, deep in our hearts, we know that what has happened is that we have renounced the battle for our dreams – we have refused to fight the Good Fight.
When we renounce our dreams and find peace, we go through a short period of tranquility. But the dead dreams begin to rot within us and to infect our entire being.
We become cruel to those around us, and then we begin to direct this cruelty against ourselves. That’s when illnesses and psychoses arise. What we sought to avoid in combat – disappointment and defeat – come upon us because of our cowardice.
And one day, the dead, spoiled dreams make it difficult to breathe, and we actually seek death. It’s death that frees us from our certainties, from our work, and from that terrible peace of our Sunday afternoons

How To Live (?)

Once in a while, rather than watching another Hollywood movies, I like to see some indie European movies. Tonight I found this Poland movie, "Jak Zyc" (How to live?). The question really caught my attention because it's a simple question with a very hard answer. Well, that's what happened with Kuba (Krzysztof Ogloza) when he found out that his girlfriend, Ewa (Anna Cieslak) was pregnant. He use to life in the simple life and in seven months everything was going to change. Because he lost his father in an early age, he felt he should learn the ideal way to live. He seeks advises from his three very different uncles.

For me, the story is more about constantly remembering what we want in the first place. In the process of that searching, there are moments were Kuba just looses the reason on why he was searching for that answer in the first place. I think lots of us do that thing too. We just got caught in the work, the problems, the process, and everything else, including the searching is forgotten. I saw that happening to lots of my co-workers, and I don't want to be like that. Got caught in the comfort nor just the problems that they sometimes just don't know which where to go, but when I asked them, why they willing to this and that, most of them say that they worked because of their families and their dreams, but in reality, the work loads get the best of them and the families and the dreams just fading slowly.

Watching movies like this is a refreshment for me, so I kept being reminded why I still work in the big corporate job that I generally don't like. Honestly, I still haven't had that courage to change things, but a least I work because I love traveling so much, and so far all I earn is for my love of traveling.

Why I love traveling

If somebody came to me and ask me why do I love traveling, maybe I'll need so much time to explain why because there are so many reasons why I love traveling. This includes:
the markets, the new people I met, the culture, taking photos, beaches, sunsets, sunrise, the bizarre food, famous tourist spot, hidden spots, festivals, hotels, hostels, airports, harbor, other people's life, souvenirs, trains, buses, plane, the air, the water, and sooooooo muuuuuch more! I can't explain why in words, but for me, waking up in the morning to another city is so exciting. I just love being in an unknown place, it makes me feel so alive. So sum that up into a 30 second video, I choose "HAPPINESS" for the reason, because it's the root to all of that loving of traveling. I don't know if I'm to late to ask this or not, but please please please kindly "like" or tweet r even just view my video. Thank you so much! I love you guys :)

I made this 30 seconds video to participate in a traveling contest by CNN and Hilton Hotels.

Sawadika Phuket! Traveling with Mum!

Sawadika! Hello! It's been a long time since my last post... So so sorry for that! My blog got a bit dusty in August because I've been traveling around. This post is about my trip to Phuket - Thailand which I took with my Mum. The travel was on late May which is supposedly not ideal to go to Thailand because of the weather, but I bought the tickets last year with checking it first. But anyway, we got lucky because the weather was quite fine so we could go islands hoping.

We spend our first day by island hoping with the destination, Phang Nga, the one famous with the James Bond Island. It was such a unique experiences since I never saw small islands like that before.

We even get the chance to go canoeing in and out of caves around the islands. I was so much fun!

On one of the island, there's a gypsy sea village, where the people lives on floating houses. Mostly the villagers are fisherman and they have lived there all their life.

At night time, we hit the road to try some street food! This one is like a pancake with chocolate and banana. We also tried the-everthing-grilled, then some soup that I forgot the name of it.

The second day, it was sunny! So lucky! So we when to the famous Maya Beach. It's the one famous for Leonardo deCaprio's movie, The Beach. Well, if you think that it would be quiet and relaxing like in the movie, it is so wrong! The beach was so crowded with boats and people. I think it was supposed to be beautiful if it wasn't so crowded.

And there's time for some scuba diving! The fishes was so colorful and beautiful, but once more, too crowded!

After that, we when to an island inhabited by monkeys. I think that the monkeys are already accustom with humans, so the are not afraid if we took pictures. Some people even give them food and cola which I think was not supposed to be done!

On our last night in Phuket, we went to a magical place called "Phuket Fantasea"! I was so wonderful! And what I meant by magical is really true! Me and my mum were like two 5 year old girls, excited to explore everything. The show was so spectacular! It was a combination of ancient and modern circus, dance, theater, and lots more! I was something hard to describe, so I suggest you see it for yourself.

And before the show started, there's a buffet that accommodates 4000 people all at once!

This is my beloved Mum! She was so excited seeing exotic fruits that we don't have in our country. Just to make the story short, why I took my mum on a trip and make it in my 30B30 list, it's because all her life my mum worked so hard to get me in school and she rarely took time off for herself. Just by seeing her so happy, it's the one thing I ever wanted! And I'm so sure there will be more of trips like this =)

This is what my mum made for us! Duo bikinis! My mum actually made those T-Shirts! She knew my obsession to wear a bikini in the beach which I cannot do (YET!) hahaha... It was so nice of her :D

I LOVE YOU MUM!

Here comes 29 at 29!

My last year as a twenty something girl! So... HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me!! Well, it's not that I'm celebrating something... Actually, right now, I'm sitting alone at my rent room and almost doing nothing. This time, I just want to share my lovely moment, last June 22nd when it was Jason Mraz's early birthday (should be June 23rd) at his concert. I got this from Youtube (thanks for the guy who shared this!).  He told us that he wrote this song on his birthday and it was a very lovely song called "Mr. Curiosity" from his album Mr. A-Z. I wondered in what state he was when he wrote this song...

I'm looking for love this time
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry
This love is a mystery
Mr. Curious...
And yes, I'm almost 30 but I'm still learning about love. And I think I'll never stop learning. And it's brilliant of Jason to addressed his feelings to Mr. Curious, because I think that mystery is just a part of one's life and sometimes we just have to let it to be like that...
Mr. Curious well I need some inspiration,
It's my birthday and I cannot find no cause for celebration
The scenario is grave but I'll be braver when you save me
From this situation laden with hearsay
That verse is true, I don't have cause for celebration this year, and yes I need lots more of inspiration. But being only one year to 30 (which I think I will be more 'adult' by then), I will take more risks in life to do what I've dreamt for. One year to go being someone in her twenties, I'm gonna make it the best that I could to live in the moment, and maybe my days will seem brighter =)

Jason Mraz spreading the L.O.V.E

If there is no limited of time, money, nor space, and you ask me which musician I would love to see live, I would not think twice to answered: JASON MRAZ! I love his works, I love his sound, and I desperately want to see him live in concert. So went my friend called me up to see his concert on June 22nd, I definitely said YES.

Maybe my limited English cannot describe the wonderful moment I had there, but what I can tell you that it was so amazing, the melody, the words, the atmosphere of the night, the companion, and everything else was just so beautiful! I enjoyed every second of it and hoped it last longer.

is a four letter word

There was so much favorite songs and I loved loved loved the live version. Much more better than the recording version, the live version gives me shivers and it's incredibly beautiful. The show was the night before Jason's 35th birthday, so we got to sing him "Happy birthday" -Hey, his Cancerian like I am! =) Mr. Toca didn't come, so he is replaced by this talented violin named Mirrett Lear. I really love how they can communicate through music. It's like the violin and guitars are the unspoken words but I was a whole conversation. Too bad I cannot play any instrument, but I surely want to have that kinda connection. My favorite of the night was "Mr. Curiosity", a song Jason made on his birthday. Not only I love the meaning and background of the song, but I love the way he sang the high notes! It was so magical! The whole night was =)

Here, I liked to share some not-so-bad photos from the other bad photos (we couldn't bring DSLR camera). I don't really mind because I saw the real live thing! =)

My place was far away from the stage

Jason Mraz singing Mr. Curiosity by playing the piano alone

Trying my best to get (a) picture, but failed

And it was a great night mostly because I had my dearest friend by my side =)

First Solo Travel: Cambodia

Royal Palace

Finally! My first solo trip ever. I choose to go to Cambodia because first, I only got 4 days to go, and second because English is not their native language. I'm only in Cambodia for two days because the other two is only being on the road and airports =( So far, solo traveling is incredible! I love how I could interact with local people and also foreign people along the way. Being a woman alone in a non-english speaking country, I found that some people are really nice and helpful. Like the time went I want to take a picture of myself with the timer, some people did offered me help. That was so nice!

The Independence Monument

Well, this is how it goes. The first day, I arrived in Phnom Penh in the morning. A cousin of my friend that works in the embassy picked me up. It was quite a surprise because I didn't thought that the were going to take me around town. I was talking with them via email to ask some things about the country. So we when to Royal Palace. It's a beautiful palace and very clean. After that, we when driving around town and ate a nice lunch at a restaurant called Lemon Grass.

Local Khmer video clips I watched for nearly 6 hours from Pnomh Penh to Siem Reap

At 2.25 PM, I caught a bus to Siem Reap, it cost 11 USD. The ride was about 6 hours with a 15 minutes break. I got to talk to some local family that was going to visit Angkor Wat. We arrived at about 8 PM. The hostel offered a free pick up service with a tuk-tuk, the kid of local transportation there.

The Great Angkor Wat

A monk in Angkor Wat

The next morning, I got up a 4 AM, trying to catch the sunrise in Angkor Wat. I decided to go there by bicycle. Well, I tell you that it was a big failure for me! I'm so bad at reading maps and have to navigate in the dark hours made me missed the sign where I should turn. It took me about 2 hours to get to Angkor Wat. I nearly cried when the sun finally comes up and I was in the middle of nowhere, not seeing the Angkor Wat like I planned. I really don't mind getting lost, but because I only got one day to see the sunrise in Angkor Wat, I felt like I've wasted my opportunity just because I couldn't read a map! That's crazy. So a note for me, I'm going to learn how to read a map properly!

Bayon Temple, I love the smiling faces

Khmer people I met along the way

The bike that I used

Ta Prohm Temple

Angkor Wat was a veri big place with lots of temple. I was really a beautiful kingdom. My favorite waas the Ta Prohm Temple. It was so lovely because of the huge trees that grew amongst the temple rocks. I spent almost all day in the Angkor Wat temple. And for the last night in Cambodia, I went to the Night Market to have some foot massage and buy some souvenirs.

The Night Market

It was a very very short trip, but I loved it. I hope to go other part of the world =D

Life in a day

Today is Monday. I got to bed too early, just at 6 P.M. after work. By 10.45 P.M, I woke up to a call of a friend of mine who just ended a very terrible relationship. I felt sorry for my friend, but I guess that's just how life is. So what would I do at 11.30 P.M if I'm not sleepy anymore?

I decide to watch "Life in a day". I recommended you to watch this movie:

This movie really amaze me... It's about life in a day on this planet earth. Really breath-taking. This movie really represent our generation, the generation of Internet and the power of people. Maybe it needs a great director to make a great movie, but what is more important is that great idea to make a movie of what is like living on this planet earth in a single 24 hours. This movie was taken on 24 July 2010. I love the genuiness of the video, it was shoot by lots and lots of people in the world. It really shows so much how we are so different as individuals but yet we still do the same stuff as human. It's a story of LOVE, FEAR, and HOPE.
I don't know how someone made up this idea, but I was so much great!

Stories that I love is the part when an old couple celebrate their 50th birthday by making a re-new vow, so funny! Then the man how loves his refrigerator so much (?!?) hahaha... About fear, I like how a little girl describe her fear of monster and all that stuff... every human has fear and it shows that children fear of those abstract things, while growing up those fear shift into something more real. In the end, we are all the same, what people really fear is "uncertainty". But it's funny when we talk about hope, "uncertainty" makes it alive. We still have hope because that uncertainty factor gives us the possibility to reach what we aimed. It's so funny how life is!

Youtube!

My first youtube video ever!!! Boy oh boy... such a scary video (and very bad imitation of Katy Perry) that is so perfect for this Friday the 13th! That's right, today is Friday the 13th, the first time I uploaded my youtube video. I've been busy preparing for this video and doing some photo shoots for this 2 weeks because I really really wanted to win a ticket for Katy Perry concert (see my link on how I didn't get the ticket) and specially I wanted to win the meet and greet with her. And don't you think that I'm TOO OLD for this stuff? Well, actually, I kinda thought about it, but I think that this is my time. Later on in my life I can buy other tickets of Katy Perry, but the matter is that I want it now, at this very moment, at my 20s, so what ever the price I have to pay, I think it's worth it. This is part of my resolution, just celebrate while it is time to celebrate and not think too much! Just have fun!

If you happened to knew me back in school, you'll probably find me so shy. I never liked singing nor talking in front of the class (don't ask about dancing!). So, making this, well, kinda crazy video is way way out of my comfort zone. Why I did this? Because it's a once in a life time craziness that young people just do hahaha... Why I wanted to broadcast myself in youtube for my 30BEFORE30? Youtube is a very cool invention in my generation! I have to have at least one video! =) That's all the reason there is to tell.

So, here it is as embarrassing as it can be, well, I just hoped that it gives so laughter =)
May I present you, the first of it's kind, my imitation of Katy Perry's E.T.!!!!

What do you think??

Goodbye Steve Jobs...

Today, the world has lost one of the amazing human being ever lived, Mr. Steve Jobs… (1955 - 2011)

Excerpts from President Barack Obama's statement:
Steve was among the greatest of American innovators — brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it. By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.

Maybe I'm just a Mac user and a fan of his work, but I believed in him. Something amazing about Steve is that he's a person who did followed his dreams and made something great for man kind. What I like from Obama's excerpts is "And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike." It is so true. Maybe Steve Jobs was once a nerd, but what makes him stand out from other nerds is his ability of storytelling. Storytelling is the most basic thing that a human being have. For the first years of childhood, children learnt lots of things from storytelling. And as an adult, don't you think that you're not doing it anymore? Well, I guess that's not true. Everything single song, movie, books, even blogs are about storytelling. Even when you work as a marketing agent, you have to tell a story to get a customer, don't you? So I believed that storytelling is an essential part in human live, and Steve Jobs has done a very great job to help us make storytelling a big part in our lives.

Steve Jobs' live is a live that is so worth to capturing. How he spent his live doing the thing he loved, going through those ups and downs in life and still came out and made something good for man kind. He had big dreams and he did made it to life. I guess that's the kind of spirit I needed to continue living my dreams.

I'm a Apple fan even since I don't have money to buy one. The first Apple that I bought was the first generation of iPod Shuffle. I did some work in my college just to get it. At that time, we didn't have an Apple Store yet, so I bought it with the help of my friend's sister who lives in the US. I love my little shuffle so much! Then after college, I worked for about 6 months to earn my first Macbook! Something that I always wanted to have (and I still use it)! The love of Apple products landed me a job at the first ever Apple store in my city! It was a short 3-unforgettable-months before I left for a job at the bank. I was in a big dilemma at that time; to worked at my favorite store or go on a more serious job. Well, I guess faith had took me somewhere else, because later on, I experienced more life turning adventures.

That's what Apple is for me. I love the products because of the great vision behind it. I planned to buy the last Steve Jobs product, "iPhone 4s" once it's released in my country. A friend of mine wrote on his FB; why the new product was not iPhone 5 like everyone's prediction, maybe it's because iPhone 4s stands for iPhone "for" Steve. Well, whatever that is, Steve Jobs was the a great artist that exist in my time. GOODBYE AND THANK YOU MR. STEVE JOBS…

Kung Fu Panda 2

This holiday is loaded with lots of great movies. I watched Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D. Can't say that it was a great 3D movie, but at least the story was great and quite entertaining. I find it more fun to watch than the previous Kung Fu Panda.

In Kung Fu Panda 2, Po had an adventure with his friends with a mission to save China. But this time, it's not as easy as only learning some kung fu and mastering it, but is more about how to deal with the past that still haunted him. He have to find what is called inner peace. I guess with a character like Po, it won't be that hard. And the movie did bring some tears in my eyes... It was so touching!

What I love most about this sequel is the search of inner peace. It's not only for learning kung fu, but I think that we all need this to help us reach our dreams. I've always thought that how people behave is part of what the past has made them. People can try to hide what their not proud of, but inside, that part of the past will always be there. It's not gonna be easy finding our inner peace, but it is worth every try.

The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho

This book is one of those book where I read it in a slow pace because I want to feel the journey rather just reading a story. The journey itself is not only the travel that Paulo took a long the Road to Santiago but also the journey in finding what he desires in life. I guess that this journey holds a very important place in finding his true passion, and I hope I will too.

Basically, this book is about Paulo's detailed journey across Spain along the legendary road of San Tiago. This road have been traveled since Middle Ages. It's like stepping into the unknown to find something that matters much for him. What fascinates me about the journey is that he didn't know what he would face and what task he should do. Paulo was given some impossible tasks, and he didn't know what to expect nor how it would be done, but he did it anyway. From there, the way to do it will reveal itself. It's like the saying "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear". Everything will come clear if you aren't afraid so much with the unknown and start to do something to get what you desire.

It really is like what happens in daily life, specially in our adulthood. Adulthood is like freedom that is given to us, but it also mean that everything is unknown. We will be lost in this life if we don't know what we want. It's like getting in a taxi without knowing where to go. After we know what we want, the unknown will always haunt us, and that is part of the excitement in the journey. If one thing is sure about life, is death itself. So other than that, everything else is unknown! What can be done is fight the Good Fight. The Good fight is the one that’s fought in the name of our dreams.

I've been thinking much about finding my true passion lately. I'm starting to get an idea, but it's not clearly yet and it's been bugging in my mind for quite some time. I believe that if we really want something, the answer to find it will reveal itself to you. Something that I learned from this lovely journey is that I have to know what I will do if I get what I desire. I never thought of that before and was quite surprised. I never really think of what I will do if I get what I dreamed of, and don't have a clear idea of that (yet). It kinda made me realize, maybe that's why I'm not close to getting what I want. So now, I'm starting to make that a clear idea, and trying to understand what I will do after I get what I dreamed of.

I hope that someday not far from today, I will make a pilgrim journey too. Something that never crossed my mind before, but now became something I considered in my to do list.
By changing the way you do routine things,
you allow a new man to grow inside you.
~Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage

Quote of the month

If you already know what your dreams are, what to do next? Pursue it? Well, it's easy to say it, but is it really that simple?

A lot of people often fail to pursue their dreams, not because they don't know how to get there, but rather not having the courage. I think that courage is like the fuel in pursuing our dreams. The way to get there or "the tool" will present itself if we have the fuel to start the engine. This is something that I considered a lot lately, do I have the courage to pursue my dreams?

Once...

Tonight, I finally got the chance to watch a movie my friend R had recommended to me. It was an 2006 indie movie, so it was not easy to find. At first, I liked the song "Falling Slowing" sang by Kris Allen on American Idol season 8. I didn't know it was from the movie "Once". The story was classic, about guy meets girl, but the rest was different and unexpected. It's about: what does it feel like to be in love. You should see it for yourself. I won't spoil it.

Looking at this movie feels like the real stuff. I guess when you dreamt of something then meet the perfect person to support your dreams, everything will a meaning. I think that if the guy didn't meet the girl, he'll still be singing on the streets and never realize that there were bigger things for him. I don't like the ending, but I guess that's just what is like in reality.

This is Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglove performing "Falling Slowly" live on Letterman.

And here's a clip Once: what does it feel like to be in love? . It is so beautiful.

So, have you ever fall in love? Even though just Once...

New York, New York!

I grew up watching and reading American stories. I watched sitcoms like Full House, Small Wonder (Vicky the robot), The Cosby Show, and even Married With Children. I read Sweet Valley Twins series, The Babysitters Club series, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Ghostbumps and lots more! But what always been my childhood favorite was about the life in New York City! All of my childhood and teenager days, I always dreamt to live there someday. There's something that fascinates me about NYC. Maybe because the huge varieties of the people and cultures. Well, I haven't had the chance yet... but I still hoped someday I'll be there!

Here's a few of my favorites books / movies / sitcoms about the life in New York City (now and then):

Book: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume
Well, the titles tells what's the book about! It's a funny yet lovely story of a true New Yorker.

Book: Ford Supermodels of The World (series) by B B Calhoun
It's about the life of six young girls becoming supermodels and they have to live in New York City. My favorite among the series was "The New Me" because it'a about an awkward small town girl named Paige who was lucky to become one of Ford's supermodel after her grandma sent the application.

Book: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
Again, another Judy's book... I guess I just felt in love with her New Yorker theme books! This one is really funny if you are a girl and growing up.

TV series: Friends
My favorite all time! I watched it since I was in elementary. It was the late night sitcoms, but I always find a way to watched it! HAHAHA... I didn't know what I was laughing at when I was a kid, but after watching it again as a 20 something, I thought that the story was more related.

TV series: The Nanny
This is me and my mum's favorite show! We always watched it together and laugh as hard as we can!

TV series: How I Met Your Mother
I watched his series after I moved to this little town and away from all of my friends. When I watched it, I missed my friends so much, and really wanted to live back to the big city :( Anyway, this story is so entertaining, I love the character of Ted.

TV series: Sex and The City
Of course it's Carrie! Such an America Dream. Girl from a little town, moved to NYC and pursuit her dreams. What an ideal life :) Though it's nice to watch!

Movie: Little Manhattan
A lovely New Yorker romance. I love it so much!

I really really want to go there someday! And like ol' Frank said:
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere.
It's up to you
New York, New York!
